The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) recently announced the award of an almost-$140 million contract for “commercial trucks and trailers,” to California-based Certified Stainless Service Inc. (doing business as West-Mark).
While awarded through DLA, the agency expects the customer-base to span all of the U.S. Military branches and will even include other Federal agencies. West-Mark will build the equipment for use “within the Contiguous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, the outlying areas and throughout Europe, Africa and the Pacific.” The globe-spanning equipment required under the contract includes, but is not limited to:
- Water Tankers, water distributors, water tenders, water trailers and related equipment
- Lubrication and fuel dispensing equipment
- Mobile service fleets; Fuel processing systems
- Petroleum handling equipment; Water purification equipment; Water Distillation equipment
- Tractor Trailers; Construction equipment trailers; Airfield specialized trailers. Construction trucks, dump trucks, construction workplace trucks, Cement Mixers; Refuse trucks
- Lavatory Service trucks, Water Well Drilling Rigs and Support Vehicles, Recycling Bins/trailers
West-Mark will build the trucks at their manufacturing point in California. The company holds a number of large contracts with DLA, and has provided similar services to agencies ranging from the Department of State to the National Park Service.
