NGA Upgrades EIM GEOINT & Space Imagery Contract to $290M
2/19/2024
In a heightened era of space competition, intricate intelligence operations, time-critical defense tactics, and space activities increasingly rely on geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) and space imagery. Government agencies are now turning to commercial space enterprises to enhance their space surveillance capabilities. The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) is seizing such opportunities by seeking proposals for a $290 million contract to acquire unclassified commercial GEOINT-derived computer vision and analytic services.
The Director of NGA Commercial Operations emphasized the agency’s increased commitment to commercial capabilities, citing the success of the EIM contract. The NGA is partnering with Luno A to harness the growing quantity and quality of commercial data. It will be necessary for effective collaboration with industry to stay at the forefront of analytic capabilities and meet the escalating demands of federal agencies.
For those interested in Luno A and other space contract prospects, there will be a panel discussion at the Potomac Officers Club’s 2024 Space Summit on March 5. This event provides a valuable opportunity to engage with space leaders, pose questions, and explore potential collaborations with their agencies. Registration is open for those keen on delving into the evolving landscape of space initiatives.
The potential five-year Luno A contract is poised to replace the $60 million Economic Indicator Monitoring (EIM) contract awarded in 2021 to Ball Aerospace (contract and task orders: HM157521D-0006, 0007, 0008, 0009, 0010). Initially valued at $29 million, the EIM contract’s expansion to $60 million underscores the strong demand for GEOINT analytics and services. Luno A is anticipated to select multiple vendors in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024, fostering competition for task orders centered on monitoring global economic and environmental activities, as well as military capabilities. Proposals for this contract must be submitted by March 26, 2024.
