Recently the General Services Administration (GSA) has been dispatching Mass Modification notifications to schedule-holders. These notices describe the second phase of modifications that consolidate 24 Multiple Award Schedules (MAS) into one single schedule for products, services, and solutions.
The consolidated MAS solicitation, which was issued last October, has a streamlined format and new categories and Special Item Numbers (SINs). Everything seems to be on schedule with the mass mods going out on January 30th, associating contract terms with the single schedule solicitation. The final phase of consolidation will be taking place later this year.
The purpose of the consolidation is to mitigate redundancies in contracting resources and simplify processes for federal customers who are already relying on multiple schedules to service their needs. This includes the Schedule 70, a massive schedule centered around information technology.
MAS vendors provide over 10 million commercial products and services to both federal and state/local agencies. Approximately $31 billion dollars are spent through these schedules annually.
The Federal Acquisition Service has noted that Federal agencies shouldn’t see any interruption of purchasing ability during the mass mod phase.
