6/23/23

The General Services Administration (GSA) has extended the duration The Alliant 2 contract vehicle, which enables other agencies to procure technology solutions, while the industry eagerly anticipates its replacement Alliant 3. In a recent announcement, the GSA confirmed that it has exercised the five-year option for the Alliant 2 contract. This decision comes less than a year after the contract’s funding was increased in size from $50 billion to $75 billion. Agencies will be able to place orders against the Alliant 2 contract until the June 30, 2028 cutoff date. ALLIANT 2 5 year extension

Alliant 2 was launched in 2018 and has attracted participation from 41 companies vying for task orders. The Government-Wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) encompasses every element of an integrated IT solution, encompassing both existing and potential future technologies that may emerge throughout the contract’s duration. It also covers IT systems and services that support National Security Systems. Since its inception, the contract has resulted in obligations totaling $17.5 billion. The agencies which use the vehicle most heavily include the Air Force, Army, Homeland Security, and the Treasury department.

As mentioned in previous articles, the GSA is actively engaged in developing the final solicitation for Alliant 3, which is anticipated to be released by the end of this calendar year. This signals the agency’s commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and continuity in providing technology solutions to government agencies.

Overall, the GSA’s decision to exercise the five-year option for the Alliant 2 contract demonstrates its dedication to supporting agencies in acquiring the necessary technological solutions. The forthcoming Alliant 3 contract will likely build upon the success of its predecessor, further enhancing the government’s ability to meet its technology requirements effectively.
