Contract awards are currently slated for October 24th. The commencement date for orders is May 1st of the following year. With a 10-year ordering span and a spending ceiling of $60 billion (which may be expanded), SEWP VI offers substantial opportunities for federal contractors.
NASA’s procurement process for SEWP VI will unfold in three stages. The first will assess relevant experience as pass or fail, and the second will focus on evaluating past performance over the preceding 3 years. Large businesses must document past performance above $2.5 million, while small businesses are required to provide examples worth $1 million for Category B and $500K for Categories A and C. Proposals will be rated as satisfactory, neutral, or no confidence during the second stage. The final stage emphasizes mission suitability, scrutinizing the technical and management methods proposed.
SEWP VI is organized into three service categories: Category A for IT, communications, and visual solutions; Category B for enterprise-wide solutions in the same areas; and Category C, specifically catering to program-level services, reserved for small businesses. Both categories A and B offer opportunities for both small and full-and-open business.
SEWP V, its predecessor, was initiated in 2015 and has seen NASA allocate approximately $63 billion to 147 participating awardees. This fifth iteration is scheduled to conclude next year in April of 2025.
Unlike SEWP V, which only permitted firm-fixed price (FFP) orders, SEWP VI will accommodate various contract types. These include Firm Fixed Price, Time and Material, Labor Hour, Fixed Price Award Fee, Fixed Price Incentive Fee, and Fixed Price Economic Price Adjustment task orders.
A 2nd online Industry Day is planned for Tuesday, June 4th at 1:00 PM. Registration to attend is located at: https://sewp.nasa.gov/sewpvi/ . Any comments regarding the RFP should be submitted through the SEWP VI RFP application available at https://sewp.nasa.gov/sewpvi/ by June 7th.
