For Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) contracts expiring this year, 92% were awarded previously with no set-aside designated, and according to our analytics, only 0.012% were awarded to SDVOSB. The NRL is looking to boost their low SDVOSB set-aside rates dramatically with the help of Virginia PTAC and just announced its first Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Industry Day. The Industry Day will be taking place on March 19th at George Mason University in Arlington, Virginia. The program is geared towards SDVOSB but all small businesses can attend.
Training topics will include basic training, general government contracting, GSA schedules, market research and business development, marketing/sales, proposal preparation and responses, selling to the government, subcontracting, and more. In addition, businesses can learn more about NRL’s projects and procurement opportunities from NRL Professionals. The SBA will also be providing updates on the SDVOSB Program.
For large businesses there will be matchmaking and exhibit opportunities for NRL’s large prime vendors. For large prime vendors needing to meet SDVOSB goals, this is a good opportunity to participate in matchmaking.
Virginia PTAC is asking that small businesses register and complete their profile online before February 23rd, so buyers can schedule sessions for the day of the event. SDVOSB companies will be given priority appointment selection over other small business categories.
